Description

In the year 2023, the company Henkel celebrated the 175th birthday of Friedrich Karl (Fritz) Henkel, who founded the now global corporation in 1876 as a small enterprise. To celebrate Fritz Henkel and pay tribute to his values at the time, STAGG&FRIENDS developed an interactive digital and physical exhibition concept.

Apart from the around 6000 employees at the Dusseldorf branch, the interactive format was intended to reach all 50,000 staff worldwide – and to provide a contemporary reflection of the pioneering spirit of the founder.

The physical exhibition followed a flexible, sustainable design marked by a striking form language. A push-fit system with simple connections allowed the combination of individual, varied and interesting shapes following the content of the exhibition. The exploration of the content required the employees to be active: They had to bend down, look at the ceiling, flip through content or solve a puzzle. The interactive features of the digital anniversary concept also provided the opportunity to look at the roots of the entrepreneur Fritz Henkel – up until today and worldwide.

In combination with a kick-off event for stakeholders, Henkel heirs and the media, as well as guided tours for the employees in Dusseldorf, the venue was turned into an interactive place of encounter for several weeks and given more runtime than initially planned. Both the overall construction and the materials used were selected to maximise sustainability and recyclability. The system is being redesigned for continued use with a new form language.
