“Boxenstopp” Mercedes-Benz Museum: An Interactive Formula 1 Experience
Description
The new Boxenstopp (pit stop) in Myth Room 7 of the Mercedes-Benz Museum provides an interactive experience of the Formula 1 myth. The focus is not only on speed and records but also on the factors that are decisive in motorsports: teamwork, strategy and precision. The experience designed by Atelier Markgraph allows visitors to become part of a racing team and to immerse themselves actively in the world behind the scenes.
As soon as they enter the experience zone, participants can feel the atmosphere of a pit stop. They take on central roles in the setting with a realistically detailed design – at the pit wall, at the wheel changing station or in the strategy area. Each task requires speed, quick responses and clever decisions. It is only with tactical skills and a true team spirit that the best times and high scores can be achieved.
Dynamic plays of light, realistic sounds and interactive displays enhance the immersive effect. Reality and simulation merge – adrenaline mounts, the tension becomes palpable. There is a deeper mission behind the playful fun: The experience makes use of pioneering edutainment elements that convey knowledge about motorsports in a playful manner and at the same time generate digital data for evaluation.
The new experience area is aimed at a young, digitally savvy visitor target group, while also appealing to traditional motorsports fans. The combination of practical experience and conveying knowledge makes the pit stop an integral part of the museum – an interactive highlight for all those who would like to experience motorsports from a new perspective.
