Description

The city of Frankfurt has set itself the goal of halving the city’s CO2 emissions by 2030 and using only renewable energies by 2050. In order to be truly climate-friendly, we can also significantly reduce our CO2 emissions through our nutrition. Climate Gourmet (Klimagourmet) was founded to draw people’s attention to this goal and their own opportunities.

The start of Climate Gourmet was as an interactive touring exhibition that won several prizes. First launched as “veggiday” in 2012, a year later “Climate Gourmet Week” was developed by the “Netzwerk Nachhaltigkeit lernen”, the Frankfurt Municipal Energy Agency and UBERMUT, bringing together local partners and stakeholders. “Climate Gourmet Week” is based on a growing network and has been taking place annually since 2013 and invites visitors to various events, offers and formats relating to nutrition and sustainability.

In 2019 there were around 60 network partners and over 40 events organized: picnics with the city chickens, bees in the museum, cinema evenings and campfires, pop-up kitchen in the fields, zero waste and permaculture workshops, cooking box and solar cooking, living room concerts, educational offers for schools, a completely sold-out street food lunch break, fairness around coffee and chocolate, insects as a source of protein, climate adaptation and exotic ideas for your own garden.
2020 will see yet another update: “Klimagourmet 2.0” will bring a mix of digital an “real life” experiences.

Something is happening in Frankfurt – a lot of people are getting active and are looking forward to positive offers!
