Description

A countdown symbol was originally already supposed to be installed two years bofore the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Catar. This was repeatedly postoned due to the pandemic, until around eight weeks before the unveiling a new briefing was issued to the handling agency fischerAppell. All the preparations, the media production for the show, the animations, music composition and dramaturgy had to be realised in less than four weeks. The countdown clock was finally ceremoniously unveiled on 11/21/21 at a live event with 150 invited VIP guests and streamed broadcasting.

The basic idea consistod of a motivating speech aimed by a coach the changing room - ai it turned out - not only at a football team but a whole nation. Appealing to the people in Qatar and beyond. At the end of his "locker room speech", the coach started up a beat for the people in Catar to join into.

The setting was designed with an open view across the water towards the Doha skyline. In order to allow both the camera and the guests a view of it, a screen made of transparent SnowTex material was used for the projection. The content was produced to form a uniform image from all perspectives. The countdown cldock itself was covered by a fabric sheet and was revealed to great effect as part of a drone show over the Doha skyline by means of a kabuki system.
