Exhibition “VRgangene Orte”: shows Stuttgart Lost Places

Vetterle's Wirtschaft

Description

Abandoned, dilapidated or even disappeared places have a special charm. Tracking down and photographing lost places is a captivating experience. An experience that could be recreated in 2022 at the "VRgangene Orte" exhibition.

Stuttgart photographer and artist Heiko Stachel has been photographing Stuttgart places shortly before they disappear since 2012. In this way, he documents how the city is changing and at the same time makes it possible to remember these places.

With the exhibition "VRgangene Orte" (VR Gone Places), he not only made his pictures publicly accessible. The photographer's 360-degree images could also be experienced via virtual reality glasses and the buildings walked through again virtually. Visitors were "accompanied" by the artist himself and guided through the 360-degree worlds.

The result was fascinating insights into demolished Stuttgart churches, old factories, abandoned and converted clubs and former trendy bars. Thus, the old shower rooms of Bad Berg could once again come to life, the corridors of the former children's hospital Olgäle could be walked through and the party cars of Club Zollamt could be marveled at.

An effectively, cleverly and consistently staged exhibition, despite the low budget.
