Description

The mapping installation "Facing Extinction" should have been shown at the Luminale 2020. Unfortunately, it had to be canceled due to the corona virus. So m box relocated the premiere to the Internet. Their impressive mapping installation addresses an important topic: the climate catastrophe we are heading towards.

More than 30,000 animal species are currently threatened with extinction! The sixth extinction of species in history shakes our planet and this time humans are a decisive contributor!

"Facing Extinction" is an artistic installation that indicates that the time of denial is over, the limit in which we can escape unscathed from this self-inflicted disaster has long been exceeded!

The starting material is the photo collection "The Photo Ark" by photographer Joel Satore. The images of endangered animal species appear calm and dignified on the building, impressively transporting the wonder of nature into the urban space. But slowly and subtly they begin to dissolve. Touching animal eyes crumble, beautiful, proud animal bodies break open and the painful and terrifying reality behind them becomes visible.
