Description

Yuri Gagarin was a Russian cosmonaut and the first man in space. On 12 April 1961, he succeeded in orbiting the Earth for the first time in a spectacular space flight. In 2021, that was exactly 60 years ago. An anniversary that Russia wanted to celebrate impressively - with an impressive concert and performance on the grounds of the Baikonur Cosmodrome rocket launch site.

So far, annual and smaller celebrations have taken place at the site where Yuri Gagarin landed after his space flight. For the 60th anniversary on 12 April 2021, the site of the Baikonur Cosmodrome - the rocket launch site from which the Vostok-1 spacecraft took off back then - was allowed to be used for the first time.

The concert was broadcast by the Russia 1 television channel.
