“FLOCK OF”: Art, Technology and Floating Fish

FLOCK OF questions our perceptions and invites us to explore the boundaries between fantasy and reality anew. The artistic installation by bit.studio from Thailand entices the public into a world where shapes dissolve and are recomposed. A shoal of floating fish emerges in a surreal metamorphosis – an interplay of light, movement and structure that shows the interrelation of the world.

As the drifting creatures move through the space, they undergo a subtle but profound transformation. Similar to a flock of birds that changes direction in unison, they collectively take on a new identity and reflect the constant flux of being.

This vision comes alive through the combination of science, technology and art. FLOCK OF makes use of a precise choreography of physics, mechanics and digital controls to create an immersive experience. Every balloon filled with helium is fitted with a special control chip that records its position in the air and coordinates its movements – a harmonious interplay of algorithms and aesthetic dynamics.

The result of all of this is an experience that is difficult to categorise. FLOCK OF invites visitors to lose themselves in this multisensory world and to rethink the boundaries between reality and the imagination.
