Every year, readers of the magazine auto motor und sport vote for the best cars of the year and answer questions surrounding the topic of mobility. The results and winning cars are presented as part of a gala event. Managers and those responsible for marketing at national and international car brands are invited. In addition, in 2018 the publishing house wanted to communicate its new corporate strategy and thereby also cast a new light on the prize awards. Visuell was appointed for the realisation – from invitation cards to spatial design and trophy design, technical planning and event management – implementing an overall concept with a clear direction.
The topic of light formed the common thread. The spatial highlight were 60 cubed lights floating in the event space. They could be controlled individually during the show and incorporated into the staging. At the beginning, the lights were raised several metres into the air and opened up a view of the stage. For the subsequent dinner, the lights were lowered to just above the tables and immersed the space in a cosy atmosphere. The stage show played on the theme of light with light contours like cut-outs. It was not until the moment the winners were announced that they rounded out and illuminated the prize winner. Individually composed soundtracks for each of the 11 vehicle categories accompanied the event as an audio element. A highlight of the stage programme was a specially programmed gesture control for the presentation by the chief editorship.
