With a lead time of only five weeks, BLACKSPACE was entrusted with the creation of a video presentation for the South Korean automobile brand Genesis. It was intended to accompany the speech by the Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke and to present the expansion of the brand in a lifestyle and performance-orientated direction, alongside a new concept vehicle.
Genesis House in New York City served as the event venue, which boasts a unique stage with three LED panels on the rear wall, on the floor and on the ceiling. With a width of over 13 metres, a depth of almost 10 metres and a height of over 3 metres, this spatial design, which is based on an earlier event by BLACKSPACE, enables fascinating, immersive media content and experiences.
The core idea of the content concept was to emphasise the dual nature of the brand: athletic and elegant. Korean culture also appears similarly elegant and calm. However, the peninsula was formed through the magma of chaotically erupting volcanoes. Inspired by this duality, the agency added elements of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to the presentation. For this purpose, the CCO was scanned and appeared as his virtual alter ego on the stage. The three-sided construction enhanced the effect and gave the speech even more depth with the realistic presence of the virtual twin.
Then the stage was transformed into a landscape filled with magma, which formed the transition to the highlight of the presentation: a video that presented details and colours of the concept vehicle, culminating in the big reveal. This resulted in a harmonious staging of the fascinating colours of the LED displays stretching from the floor to the ceiling with the sporty GV80 Coupé in magma orange
