The Christmas party is among the highlights of the business year at Vodafone. In the year 2020, the customary big party was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, celebrations were nevertheless to take place. The aim was to realise an emotional Christmas party that despite, or perhaps precisely because of the difficult conditions, conveyed a sense of belonging, appreciation, fun and togetherness. With this in mind, the agency insglück developed the digital “GIGA XMAS Kitchen Party”, under the motto “Together we can bake it”. The “Giga family” was already activated in advance via an internal communication campaign, calling on participation in the Vodafone talent competition. In addition, 17,600 event boxes with Christmas goodies were sent to the employees.
On 17 December 2020, the live show was broadcast from a studio loft to the kitchens and living rooms of the Giga family. In various settings, they prepared the Christmas party in front of the displays and completed various challenges together. They joined each other in baking Christmas biscuits, decorating Christmas trees and wrapping presents. An interaction tool allowed the immediate reaction of the ommunity, as well as quizzes and reviews. Photos and GIFs could be sent to the studio through a microsite with augmented reality applications and selfie filters. Torsten “Knippi” Knippertz provided entertaining guidance through the show. The moderator Enie van de Meiklokjes accompanied the biscuit baking and the cabaret artist Moritz Neumeier performed live and selected the best Vodafone talents
