The GROW installation, developed by Daan Roosegaarde, is intended as a tribute to the beauty of agriculture. The 20,000m2 field of red and blue light waves, not only lets visitors experience fascinating dancing lights, it also draws attention to the importance of innovation in agriculture.
The light installation is inspired by photobiological light science technologies. These have shown that certain parts of blue, red and ultraviolet light can improve plant growth and reduce pesticide use by up to 50%.
GROW is part of a Rabobank artist-in-residence program and was developed over two years. It is the first installation within a series by Studio Roosegaarde that show the beauty of combining art and science to create a better world.
