Hyuandai Motorstudio Hanam – Multisensory Installation
Description
The Hyundai Motorstudio Hanam, Seoul, was reopened in spring 2020 after extensive modernisation. The new NEXO car stands at the centre of the showroom, with its driving power generated by a newly developed fuel cell system. The surrounding media installation developed by flora&faunavisions was designed to not only set the stage for the vehicle but also to take the visitors on a poetic journey that conveyed the beauty of nature from the perspective of a hydrogen molecule. With the help of a supplementary media table, guests could find more in-depth information about all the content and even younger visitors could explore the topic of hydrogen.
Each guest is greeted upon entry by an interactive hydrogen emoji. Other content and audio signals responding to movement, triggered by sensors, guide the visitors through the tunnel to the central exhibition spaces. Playful moments alternate with informative Q&A sessions. A configuration of ten loudspeakers intensifies the surround sound and the multisensory experience. Through the interactive 360-
degree media installation, guests get to know the four elements that characterise Hyundai’s fuel cell technology: sun, water, energy and clean air. The space artistically interprets four different worlds that were all produced for this specific location, to do justice to every pixel of the media architecture. The beauty of the sun’s rays in the morning, a play of light and shadow, drops of water that float slowly and seemingly without gravity through the space. The energy chapter visualises energy generation, where hydrogen and oxygen come together to produce a driving force. The final chapter depicts a vision of clear air when decarbonisation is at an advanced stage.
