“Kid A Mnesia”: Virtual Radiohead Exhibition
"Kid A Mnesia" is a mixture of a virtual Radiohead exhibition and an online game. A kind of playful art museum dedicated to the melancholic music and visual world of the British band. A project that perfectly illustrates that a video game can be art - and art can be a video game.
A large part of the game is spent wandering through strange, romantically gloomy rooms with Radiohead artwork, while listening to songs from the legendary albums "Kid A" and "Amnesiac". There are also video game-like experiences. For example, you can walk into a column to hear the iconic drum and bass lines of a song that weren't there before. When you step out of the column, the drums and bass disappear again.
Beyond that, it has little in common with traditional video games. There are no enemies, no task or prize. Visitors can only move through the rooms and corridors - slower or faster - and zoom in on individual elements. If you want to describe it this way, the task is to wander through the atmosphere, the objects, the sounds and strikingly beautiful rooms in complete silence, to let them take effect on you and to seek out as yet undiscovered details. The more time you take, the more you discover.
