“Nocturne”: Shadow Play & Light Installation

Creating an effective room design with simple means? French artist Julia Dantonnet provides us with a beautiful inspiration for this: her mystical low-tech light installation "Nocturne" for Lyon - Fête des Lumières 2019.

In the courtyard of the Musée Gadagne, she installed a shadow play that is as simple as it is poetic. Various shadow carousels in the courtyard and galleries created layered, immersive projections.

Animated silhouettes of nocturnal animals appeared on the façades, cavorting in a mysterious forest. A soundscape of rustling noises and animal voices supported the nocturnal mood and contemplative installation.
