Description

Is it possible to collect donations with a virtual world of experience in order to save the real world? At least that's what the #OceanDetox campaign by WWF Germany together with Savespecies and Journee promises. For World Cleanup Day on September 17, 2022, they opened the virtual experience and exhibition space Saveyour.world. It aims to raise awareness for the global plastic waste crisis while providing donation opportunities.

In the virtual world created by Savespecies artists and Journee, users can move freely, explore it playfully and learn about the consequences of environmental pollution. The centerpiece of the exhibition is an anamorphic whale composed of 50 floating plastic waste objects. These objects can be purchased as digital art (NFTs). Proceeds from digital art sales will support "for example, WWF's work to combat the real plastic tide in Vietnam."

The virtual space is expected to remain and grow. New habitats are planned with further exhibitions of digital art objects.
