“Spark”: Sustainable Fireworks

Description

Classic fireworks are being banned in more and more cities and countries. Most recently because of Corona, but before that also because of the heavy air and environmental pollution. So more and more alternatives are emerging, such as drone shows already. Studio Roosegaarde has come up with another idea: what they say is a sustainable, celebratory experience called "Spark".

Inspired by fireflies, flocks of birds and the starry sky, "Spark" is said to be not only environmentally friendly, but also an equally magical experience. In the process, thousands of sparks of light made of biodegradable materials float silently and organically through the ever-changing wind.

This new solution and performance will be presented for the first time at the Wellbeing Summit for Social Change in the Spanish city of Bilbao-Biscay from 1 to 3 June 2022. Visitors can marvel at the floating lights in a cloud formation of about 50 x 30 x 50 metres in Bilbao's public park.
