Description

The TRUMPF anniversary year was to be celebrated extensively, accompanied by a variety of media. The agency what when why handled the programme, including amongst others a gala, a festival with streaming format, and a family event, all filled with participatory activities. A visual highlight formed the conclusion.

The aim of all the activities was to present the company with its deep Swabian roots and strong identification with the industrial region, to show appreciation and to strengthen the sense of community among employees.

Around 4500 staff were invited to the TRUMPF 100 Festival and 4500 more to the Laser Family Festival in Schramberg the same day. The company campus for this was transformed into a festival site consisting of four themed worlds. Apart from the beer garden “Nibbelkönig”, named after a product from the founding era, the guests could immerse themselves in the history of the company at the “Time Travel Café”. The rock club “Stanze” (‘Punch’) was a reference to the important business field of punching machines. The main stage titled “Laser Club” evoked their innovative strength in the area of laser technology. During the one-day event, the employees were able to take part in team-building activities and experience the TRUMPF All-star band, as well as the “impulse machine”, made up of a chain reaction. The event was envisaged as a day together to explore and enjoy.

The integration into the communication strategy and the TRUMPF community worldwide was an important aspect of the concept. An interactive streaming format incorporated all the subsidiaries – with a speech by the CEO, video highlights and the activating LipSync video of their own anniversary song, performed individually by the subsidiaries. Social media communication extended the event outwards.

The aim of the VIP event was to show partners, friends and customers thanks and appreciation – the “TRUMPF Gala 100” was conceived as a modern look into the shared future, as an immersive overall concept in the fully glazed company canteen. The rectangular TRUMPF logo emerged as a central design element: It featured on the stage design as an oversized, walk-in LED cube – which could be used individually and as a whole. Atmospheric show, music, video and lighting concepts, as well as specially developed, interacting table lamps, provided a modern but not aloof stage for the host.

A concluding public highlight of the anniversary year was the longest birthday candle in the world – set up by TRUMPF itself. It lit up the sky 10 kilometres high from the company site in Ditzingen and could be seen from a radius of 80 kilometres.
