Upside Down – Streetdance meets Classic
Description
“Upside Down – Streetdance meets Classic” is a socially orientated in-house production by Ingelheim‘s Kultur und Marketing GmbH in its own venue, the kING. It is a 90-minute high-quality show in which children and young people from a local street dance school performed together with professional musicians and dancers.
Amateurs aged 7 to 26 years met with experts from the events industry – the former with little stage practice, the latter as German and European champions with many years of competition experience. What united them was their great passion for street dance.
These were very different starting positions that were a challenge for realising a setting of a high standard with all the hallmarks of a professional show performance. With Enno-Ilka Uhde, who was tasked with the conceptualisation and direction, they ultimately succeeded in delivering a striking show that brought together dance elements, classical and modern music, visuals, projection and lighting effects. Street art met concert hall, subculture met high culture, street dance met classical dance – an artistic crossover.
The multimedia piece was performed six times in total as part of the IkUM‘s regular programme, in front of around 5000 spectators. Teaming with the professionals, the young dancers excelled themselves and delivered a great show.
